GFS Sources Section

This section is the canonical source catalog for the GlobalFoundries knowledge base. Every claim in the thesis section maps to a primary-source citation, and this directory catalogs the sources used. Three files structure the catalog:

  1. source log — running list of every URL referenced anywhere in the GFS KB, grouped by source type (SEC EDGAR, GF press releases, GF investor relations, conference papers, trade press, partner press releases, analyst day decks, Mubadala statements). Each entry: URL, date, what we cite from it, last-verified date, confidence flag.
  2. primary filings index — chronological index of GFS SEC filings (Form 20-F annual, 6-K interim, 8-K current report, DEF 14A proxy, Schedule 13D/G, F-1 IPO prospectus, F-3ASR shelf, 424B5/B7 secondary, Form 4 post-2026-03-18 HFIAA) with accession numbers + URLs.
  3. methodology gfs specific — GFS-specific research methodology notes: how to read GF’s segment-mix disclosures, how Mubadala-related-party transactions get reported, how to estimate Fotonix-photonics revenue from disclosed segment lines, how to interpret Form 4 cadence patterns under the Section-16 regime.

Sources policy summary

The KB uses primary sources for every claim. The hierarchy:

  1. SEC primary (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, DEF 14A, Schedule 13D/G, S-1, S-3, 424B5, Form 4, Form 144, etc.) — public domain, quote freely. GFS is a US-domestic-issuer Section-12 filer; Section 16 / Form 4 insider-transaction reporting applies (unlike POET, which is FPI-exempt).
  2. GF corporate primary (gf.com/news, gf.com/blog, investors.gf.com, GF press releases via GlobeNewswire / PR Newswire / Business Wire) — primary corporate sources. Earnings releases, Investor Day materials, customer-engagement announcements.
  3. Partner primary (LWLG, NLM Photonics, Marvell, Ayar Labs, Lightmatter, PsiQuantum, Ranovus, AMF, A*STAR, etc.) — primary corporate sources from collaboration counterparties.
  4. Conference proceedings (OFC, ECOC, IPC, IEEE Photonics, ECTC) — primary technical venues.
  5. Peer-reviewed papers (DOI-citable; relevant SiPh process and customer-architecture references) — primary technical.
  6. Trade press (Photonics Media, Laser Focus World, EE Times, Semiconductor Engineering, Reuters, Bloomberg, Semiconductor Today, Optics.org, Photonics Online) — secondary structured.
  7. Industry forecasts (LightCounting, Dell’Oro, 650 Group, Cignal AI, Mordor Intelligence, TrendForce) — secondary structured.
  8. Aggregator / sentiment (Stocktitan, Yahoo Finance, MarketBeat, Investing.com, FinancialContent, Stocktwits) — Tier 2 input; not used for fact-claims, mainly for aggregated context.

Confidence-flag conventions (used throughout the KB)

  • ✓ verified-primary (corroborated against SEC filing, GF corporate press release, peer-reviewed paper, or two independent primary sources)
  • ◐ partial / single-source / paraphrased from secondary
  • ⚠ inferred / unconfirmed / requires future validation

Coverage status (2026-04-29 snapshot)

This section is being populated. The KB structure follows the template established for POET, LWLG, and MRVL. Long-form analyst content fills in over time. Submit a question on the Q&A page to influence priority.
